Children A'loud

We are an NPO based in the community of Ocean View. Our youth development center is creative in promoting opportunities for the partcipants of Children A'loud in developing essential skills that will encourage resilience building, positively affect their engagement in risk taking behaviour and positively their self-esteem and decision making. It also addresses the current barriers to learning and succeeding by taking the same view as the health promoting school model. The dual function of the organisation will be to also create community empowerment by creating jobs for the unempoloyed in the community and therefore uplifting the community as a whole.

Thanks to Sensei Brian Shihan Andre and their admin assistant Bernie for keeping the dojo in Ocean View running on top form. The tournament took place 28 Oct with Ocean View placed 3rd out of 11 participating Dojos. Hope Komo who sadly lost her mom only a few weeks prior ended up in top 10. Winning a gold and bronze medal. We are very proud of Hope and all 20 participants that took part😍

Good day everyone.

These are the kids from OV that attended the camp.
Name Surname
Shae Groenewald
Troy Muller
Dante Williams
Mikayla Daniels
Lavondre Rademeyer
Almar Esterhuysen
Hope Komo
Avery Van Wyk
Christopher Davids
Ameen Jacobs

Shae and Troy really came into their own when we let them train the other lower grades. Dante, Mikayla, Hope, Almar, Avery and Ameen normally very quiet, interacted with the other students and I’m sure made made new friends. Christopher was a real live wire and completed the obstacle course in record time. Lavondre the smallest on the camp overcame his fear of heights and snakes.

The objectives of the training camp were: obviously to get them to learn new karate techniques. Build their self esteem. To let them try to apply our organisation’s 5 maxims in their daily lives. 1) Seek perfection of character 2) Be faithful 3) Endeavour 4) Respect others 5) Refrain from violent behaviour.
