At Children A'Loud we still believe in changing lives!
I am very pleased with the past years events and the wonderful support we received from all our volunteers. Our financial situation improved tremendously.
Thanks to all our funders, the more money in the bank, the more services can be provided to the children of Ocean View. For the first time we can start implementing
small projects without worrying where the money will come from.
The change from our many services to a mentorship programme was working out much better as we say progress in the few programmes we had and were no longer running ourselves
silly trying to cope with too many projects at the same time.
We received significant results with our baseball programme during the summer months with all our teams ending up in the top half of the league. The love for the
game amongst our children has flourished as we now see commitment like never before. Thanks to our coaches, scorers, managers and kitchen ladies who worked tirelessly in the
heat of summer preparing the fields, foods, teams, uniforms, discipline, equipment etc.
Karate classes now form part of our winter programme which started on 22 May and has caused a hype amongst the children with 37 attending our first session.
Our camp at Sunbird Park in October 2016 was a hit as usual with lots of wonderful work being done by our volunteers. Our drug programme in April 2017 was spoken about for weeks
afterward by parents as they discovered the need to also speak about their fears of raising their children in a gangster riddled area. Going forward a lot more emphasis must be placed
into preparing parent and teenager workshops.
It is also important to expose our children to the beautiful adventures that Cape Town has to offer our youth. We must look into hiking, sailing, scuba diving, surfing, kayaking and zip lining.
It am excited and look forward to 2018 / 2019 with enthusiasm. Let's work hard on fundraising and also get funders to donate to this very worthy cause.
Thanks and God bless
